::.LIMINAL
Transdisciplinary choreography & an expanded cinema experience by Gabriel Vallecillo Márquez

November 2021 - November 2022

We are happy to invite you to the launching events of Gabriel Vallecillo’s last audiovisual production ::.LIMINAL. A short film and a live cinema videomapping project based on dance/performances in liminal spaces in Berlin. This movie has been produced in two stages and different locations in the city between 2021 and 2022, featuring unique performances by 7 dancers which where filmed in studio, video projected and simultaneously filmed in urban spaces to create an expanded cinema experience of 24’ minutes (ENG/ESP with subtitles in DE & ENG).
::.LIMINAL is a coproduction with neue haute e.V., funded by NPN Joint Adventures.

The project stems out of a transdisciplinary choreographic research exploring the idea of liminality by establishing a correlative dialogue between individual post-pandemic experiences of confinement and site specific locations in Berlin with a symbolic weight. The expressionist outcome of this two year project is conceived to operate in a variety of formats: as a dance choreographic film, as an art film, as a live-cinema videomapping experience and as a live-cinema and sound performance. Following this multiple format logic, we are premiering the expanded cinema film in different, yet specific contexts.

Synopsis:

::.LIMINAL is a dance/performance based art film experience that uses Berlin’s architecture as a second skin to create a visual choreography of the contemporary experience of liminality and the need of becoming in our current historic moment.
